The Society seeks to encourage the collecting, studying, painting and displaying of the flat tin figure in all its forms. This site holds an extensive list of manufacturers and retailers of tin flat figures.

  •  SM Figures: www.smfigures.com.  Official website of Stephen Mallia, master sculptor and painter, award winner of several international competitions. This site offers an online gallery of his works.
  • MB-Miniatures: www.mb-miniatures.com.  Official website of Alan Ball and Marion Ebensperger, renowned sculptor and painter respectively, two of the leading figures in the hobby industry. Marion specialises in painting figures and boxart whereas Alan sculpts masters for major companies. Their website includes a gallery of their works.
  • Bill Farmer: www.figuresculptor.plus.com.  Bill Farmer has been sculpting masters of plastic model soldiers for the past 25 years. He provides a unique sculpting service to manufacturers of 1:72 injection-moulded military figures. Worthwhile visiting the site to find out more about recent releases as well as older kits as well as an insight of how these models are scratch-built.
  • Adrian Hopwood: www.adrianhopwood.co.uk.  Adrian Hopwood's personal site with articles, reviews and images of his works. Also gives news of events in the modelling world.
  • Fujiwara Mitsutaka:  www.geocities.jp/figure_site/.  A personal website with loads of images of figures painted by Fujiwara Mitsutaka.

  • Planet Figure: www.planetfigure.com.  An online forum for the enthusiastic modeller and collector. Useful tips and advice from sculptors and painters and a forum for discussion on any modelling-related topic.  
  • Timelines: www.timelinesforum.com.  Timelines Historical Miniatures Forum is an ideal discussion group for modellers, sculptors and painters who want to discuss all aspects of their hobby with fellow enthusiasts.  
  • Lilliput: www.lilliputmodel.com.  Although a Spanish online forum, one can still find some very interesting articles, reviews and step-by-step processes. Totally dedicated to figure modelling. Well recommended.
  • Historicus Forma: www.hfmodeling.com.  Historicus Forma, a new site in the KitMaker Network, is an interactive community site with over 19,900 registered users. This site was launched in June of 2006, but was originally the figure modeling section of Armorama, one of the biggest scale modeling sites on the Internet. The plan is for this new site to become as much an online hub for scale model miniaturists and figure makers as Armorama has become for other military scale modeling projects.
  • Totalmodel:  www.totalmodel.com.  Total Model is a showcase website. It is designed to be a "virtual display cabinet" with the aim to present the very best models and miniatures on the market.  
  • Armorama:  www.armorama.co.uk.  Armorama was built with the goal of providing a fun place for model builders to relax, share information and generally have a good time. This site promotes a friendly and open forum for users to share their know-how, and also discover ways to build more satisfying models.
  • Asociación Alabarda:  www.alabarda.info.  An excellent website featuring articles, reviews and galleries of works completed by various modellers, both of figures from renowned manufacturers as well as original works. Although the website is in Spanish, it is highly recommended.  

References, Publications & E-zines

  • Historical Warfare:  www.historicalwarfare.com .  This web site has been set up to bring all elements of military history together on to one web site. The aim is to create the most comprehensive web site on military history, and the activities surrounding it, from 2000 BC to 2000 AD. This website, unlike others, is a subscription web site. This allows it to remain fully independent, and to remain free of pop up and banner adverts. The most important element of a web site is its users, so any feedback or contributions are welcomed.
  • The Basement: www.tbfm.co.uk.  A magazine that is only available on the internet. It follows the format of most other 'paper' magazines, in that there are Articles, Step-by-Steps, Review areas and a News section - all of which are submitted by model makers from around the world. Readers have access to the e-zine for free.
  • Osprey Publishing: www.ospreypublishing.com.  Osprey Publishing is the world's leading publisher of illustrated military history and military aviation books. Osprey series span military history from the ancient world to modern times. Osprey's popular series include Men-at-Arms, Campaign, Fortress, New Vanguard, Warrior and Aircraft of the Aces.

  • Randle's Reviews:  www.randlesreviews.co.uk.  The Randle's Reviews website, as the name suggests, aims to review books, living history events, re-enactment groups and also model kits. An interesting factor here are the links to a number of re-enactment groups covering all periods, from the Neolithic to the Modern Day, which should prove to be an invaluabls source of information for modellers.
  • Wiremill Design:  www.woodenbases.co.uk.  Producers of wooden bases for modellers in various shapes and sizes and finished to a very high quality to bring out the natural beauty of the wood grain. Different kinds of wood are used and bases can also be custom-made.

  • British Model Soldier Society (BMSS)www.btinternet.com/~model.soldiers.  The largest and longest established association of model soldier enthusiasts. The BMSS includes enthusiasts for all types of model soldiers of any scale. The website includes information about the many and varied BMSS activities and events of interest to military modellers and toy soldier collectors.

Ranges include: Age of Wars, Samurai Armies, American War of Independence, Agincourt to Orleans, Border Rivers, English Civil War, Napoleonic Brunswick, Napoleonic Dutch/Belgians, Napoleonic Peninsular 40mm, Scots of Civil War, The Crusades, Muslim Armies and Limited Edition prints. Some very nice sculpting.
  • Gripping Beast: www.grippingbeast.com. Produce a vast range of 28mm figures Ancients, to name but a few: Romans, Late Roman- Arthurian periods, Germans, Irish & Sassanids, Vikings, Normans & Byzantines as well as accessories and weapons and countless other figures all in 28mm. they also produce transfers and resin ships and buildings to complement their growing range of figures.
  • Front Rank Miniatures: www.frontrank.com. Specialising in 28mm figures from the wars of the Roses to the Spanish Succession. Ranges include the Jacobites and a very nice range of Napoleonic Figures. They also produce a nice range of 40mm figures of the American War of Independence.
  • Rackham: www.rackham.fr A French manufacturer of 30mm figures covering Sci-fi and fantasy figures similar to Games workshop in there own very original form with hordes of figures and factions and countless scenarios with rule books and other publications, etc. Well recommended.
  • R&R Miniatures: www.rnrminiatures.com An independent online trader dealing in the Games Workshops range of Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Warhammer 40K & Lord of the Rings ranges; they offer a 20% discount on the Fantasy Battle and 40K range and 15% discount on LotR figures.  
  • Artizan Designs: www.artizandesigns.com An excellent UK manufacturer of 28mm wargaming figures with a very nice range of fantasy figures as well as Acients and WWII miniatures.
