The Moonchild

The Pit is a strange and disgusting place. The Freaks rule in there, each one more horrid than the other. Sometimes amid this inhumanity, a child is born with a singular and dangerous beauty, like a firedamp flower with an iron stem. The Freaks fear and worship this child, calling him “Moonchild”. A lost soul roaming near places filled with suffering, it is said that crossing his path brings a curse upon the seer for seven generations of mutants.

Miss Ticklenott

A determined young woman, Miss Ticklenott doesn't quite fit the idea of what a Victorian lady should or should not be. Adventurous, drawing back from no danger or dark aged book to decipher, she is as smart as glamorous and as lively as courageous. Drawing from her dear old daddy's fortune, she acquired one of the weirdest weapons in London, an alien living artefact of unknown origin. Daddy has also provided his dearest daughter with a most devoted chaperon : Monsieur Cornelius Fauchelevent.

Cornelius Fauchelevent

Refined, tactful, careful to the least detail, Miss Ticklenott's butler is a Frenchman as fussy as dedicated to the service of his mistress. His obsession with order and etiquette makes him a prime prey for the mischievous faeries, always ready as they are to turn the arithmetic of a buffet layout or an appointment at the best tailor's shop into an unspeakable chaos. A tenacious nature, Monsieur Fauchelevent hasn't given up hope of civilizing one of those "maudits lutins"!

Tinkerbell & Bismarck

Both innocent and cruel, their very nature makes the Faeries a regular nuisance to Londoners' everyday life. Yet, the Queen Victoria being away at Oberon's court, nobody dares to complain. Anyway, even Her Majesty couldn't help much : there is simply not enough space within a Faerie's mind for more than one and only thought or feeling at a time ! As for Major Dreadful, he would deprive himself of Tinkerbell's spying abilities for nothing, especially not for feeding Bismarck's gluttony...

Veteran of the Zulu Wars and the campaigns of Egypt during which he lost his left arm, the Major was entrusted by the regent, Lord X, the direction of Scotland Yard. Incorruptible and merciless, the rigid Major Dreadful upholds the law, crushing with his powerful mechanical prothesis anyone foul enough to break the rules of the Empire. His bulldog Winston seems the only being on Earth able to soften Dreadful's character. Others will take the consequences of their deeds.

Jack MK4

As methodical as elusive, the « Beast of the East End » carefully evicerates and dismembers each one of his victims, always ending by cutting off their head. Slauthering alternately men and women with the regularity of a metronome, he has killed thirty seven so far. With each new crime comes a great wave of public opinion. Newspapers point the inefficiency of Scotland Yard's vain calls to denouncement while Jack, corpses after corpses, spreads his terror in the London night...

The Prestigious Cabinet

No one knows whether Shamock made the Box himself or received it as a gift from the Dark Pharaoh. Endowed with its own dark and powerful will and yet obedient to its master, the Box likes nothing better than swallowing its victims and feeling them struggling while Shamock slaughters them in front of an enthraled audience. Some say they have witnessed the Box prowling about the streets, luring children into squalid alleys at the deceitful sound of a music box melody.

Shamock the Great

Their appearance can be so deceptive that judging servants of the Dark Pharaoh by that criterion alone is a hazardous bet. Shamock the Great is undoubtedly among the worst ! Unfortunate volunteers who enthusiastically assist him on stage, every evening at the Egyptian Hall, often meet a deadly end at the sound of the applause of the deceived audience. Bloodthirsty, the Box has claimed the life of many spectators. A price Shamock has always been glad to pay.

A low rank accounting employee at Harrod's, Piotr dutyfully calculated a fortune meant to never be his. He was even chosen by the magician to be his assistant for a trick he never quite recovered from. Now a zombie, a token of his master's art, he wanders through London to advertise the shows of Shamock the Great.

Reverend Dudley

Some men have faith, others have lost it. The Reverend Dudley belongs to the latter since God allowed his dearest bride to die. She was found drowned in the Thames but the Reverend never thought it a mere accident, especially since she came back to haunt him. United for better and worse, the couple is cursed. The putrified remains of his young wife lie in a coffin Dudley carries with him at all times, as a reminder that only the death of the Dark Pharaoh will give her peace.

Lord Baron Mantes

The volatility of Ether is a prime subject of research for scholars of the Mechazylum. His obsession about gravity has led the asthmatic, rachitic Baron Victor Mantes to dominate his contemporary thanks to his discoveries on zeppelinium. However, his excessive consumption of this weird gaz has altered his larynx, making his voice curiously highpitched, as a newborn faery's. Still, few people dare to make fun of Lord Victor's elocution. Maybe because of the size of his mechanical arms...

Cyclomaton Mk2

Following the explosion of the protoplasmic capacitor and the lynching of several members of the Mekazylum, most Steamlords have felt the need for a dissuasive personal support. Heavily armed and very mobile, Cyclomatons reliably fulfil that purpose. At least as long as the parameters of their mission are not too numerous. Thus, Cyclomatons love simplicity – in a very mechanical way, of course -, so make sure they never regard you as superfluous data!

Professor Sawbone

Like his faithful friend Livingstone, Lord Sawbone is a great explorer and a distinguished member of the Club. He has chosen not to let to Necromancers of the Cult the privilege of using wizardry. His peregrinations all over Dark Africa led him to make the acquaintance of a most unusual member of the primate order in the person of 'Mister Honk'. On the Forbidden Plateau of Bandiagara, Lord Sawbone mastered the art of magical masks that enemies of the Club have already learned to fear.

Yet, Mister Honk cares nothing for his alleged bestiality ; he's far more worried by his new trendy tailored suit being ready for Friday's gala at the Club. Little Alice

Like all ectoplasms, little Alice is not in the land of the living anymore. Since the 1851 explosion of the protoplasmic capacitor, random streams of Ether allow ectoplasms to spontaneously appear. Their relatives no more have to turn to a Necromancer or a medium who can, thanks to any item psychically linked to the defunct open him or her a way through Ether. However, ectoplasms still take shape because of intense emotional disruptions that make contacts with them very exhausting.

Brought by the Queen Titania to defend Buckingham Palace at the head of his regiment of Elven Hussars, the Marquis of Carabas is a haughty and disdainful officer. Yet, his sole presence is disturbing enough to muzzle most members of the Imperial Court. The Canopic Beast

Hidden within the depths of the ancient pyramids are mysteries that would better not be unveiled. The Canopic Beasts are among those. Their receptacles, once meant to preserve the defuncts' organs, are made of an unknown material that naturally restrains Ether. Within the jar, a Beast's essence awaits the time of its release. The one who will break the canopy reciting impious verses, banned as early as in the Pharaoh's time, will be able to control the Beast and make it commit the worst.

Humpty & Dumpty

As complicated as being in harmony with oneself may be, it is even more difficult for two opposite characters to share one body. Humpty embodies the bright side of the bicephalous Humpty-Dumpty : kind and courteous, he is an unmatched guide into the subterranean maze of the Pit. Unfortunately, according to the strange agreement between him and Dumpty, he only has control of their common body on even days. The rest of the time, he is compeled to commit the worst atrocities. Everybody hides a dark side. Humpty-Dumpty is no exception and the misanthropy of this dual, odd character is fully embodied by the evil Dumpty. As pleasant as Humpty may be, he hardly challenges Dumpty's obnoxious treacherous nasty nature. During one of their schizophrenic philosophical arguing, it was finally agreed upon that Dumpty would have the body for himself on odd days. Many times he has falsified the calendar to deceive that poor Humpty.

Nibaba

The ancestral magic of the Witches of the Wheel draws from the oldest powers of Nature. The more a witch's talent develops, the closest she gets to the very source of her power. Nibaba surrendered her narrow human consciousness as her life extended as an oak's. She is hardly human any more now and her perception of existence is so hermetic that only a handful of Gypsy sages can understand the logic that guides her acts. Nevertheless, as an Ancestor, Nibaba is to be blindly obeyed !
