“He wasn’t the most honest or pious man, but he was a brave one”.

Captain Alatriste is the main character of the series of novels named after him that take place in the XVII century, during the Spanish Golden Age, created by the Spanish novelist and journalist Arturo Pérez-Reverte.

Don Diego de Alatriste is a veteran soldier from the Tercios, a fearsome Spanish military unit from the times of the Habsburgs. He survives in Madrid as a sword for hire, living adventures that will carry him through several places, from the muddy battlefields of Flanders to the vibrant Seville, from the naval battles against the pirates in the Mediterranean Sea to the alleyways of Venice. During these adventures, he faces all sorts of enemies and perils until he finds death at the battlefield of Rocroi (1643).

The adventures of this character are a remarkable walk through one of the most pivotal periods of Spanish history. Those were the days of the vast empire that, for the first time in history, spanned territories in various continents, the days of the cultural splendor of the baroque, of immortal names like Cervantes, Quevedo and Velázquez.

The miniature is based on the attire of the literary character, and includes two choices of head. We are very pleased to present this project, developed in collaboration with the author himself. Thank you very much, Don Arturo, for this opportunity.
