1:16 scale resin kit. Sculpted by Oriol Quin. Boxart by Fernando Ruiz. kit includes: 1 piece casting.

At the beginning of the war, most of the forces in the branch of the Marines in the Confederate Army resigned from USMC. They were organised as a Confederate States Marine Corps in March 16, 1861 and they assumed the same role as their counterparts in the North.

Although authorised to be a Corps, they were very small in number. From 1026 men, they summed a total of just 539 officers and enlisted men by 1864.

Their duties consisted in protecting the ships and avoid boarding by the enemy and also supporting landing operations. Amongst their most notable actions was the capture of the USS Underwriter and the USS Water Witch, their contribution to freeing Confederate prisoners of war from the infamous prison at Point Lookout State Park in Maryland, and their participation on the Battle of Sayler’s Creek in Virginia in 1865, one of the last major battles of the war.

About the uniform, there is a certain some controversy, because the records of this unit were destroyed in 1865. However, different sources offer some light on this matter. The uniform prescribed for the CSMC was very similar like that the one worn by the USMC but grey instead of federal blue. Pictures from officers of the CSMC show them wearing frock coats in variety of grey and with braided sleeves like those used in the CS Army. The uniforms were made in different cloth, for either cold or hot weather.
