Shipping to the USA is now resumed

For the attention of our US CUSTOMERS

El Greco Miniatures has been working on its website and platform in order to test orders and the correct application of tariffs and duties where applicable.

Therefore, when placing an order, US customers will see an additional line in the checkout which highlights the tariff charges (and duties, if any). For information, the scale model kits do not carry additional duty so the tariff charge will be 10% for UK items, and 15% for EU and South Korean items. Some items like acrylic paints or wooden plinths may carry some duties (which vary from 1.8% to 5%). These will be displayed in a separate line as follows:

We will then dispatch the parcel through Royal Mail Tracked with Postal Delivery Duties Paid, so USPS will process these swiftly through Customs for delivery directly to you. There should be no additional charges applied. To this end, we are no longer offering optional FedEx delivery to the USA since courier companies are applying additional charges besides the tariffs and duties.

Original suspension information as at 25 August 2025:

We have been informed by our postal operators that they are suspending shipments to the USA for most businesses who ship to US businesses and customers. These are the salient points and the effects thereof on shipments to the USA, going forward.

  • The Presidential Executive Order dictates that - as from 29 August 2025 - the previous 'de minimis' threshold of $800 is now removed. So any parcels from outside the US (except for gifts valued at under $100) will be subject to Duties and Tariffs, depending on the country of origin (this means the country of manufacture, not the shipping country).
  • As an example, anything produced by ourselves El Greco Miniatures (or any of the 3D Prints printed by us under licence) shall be subject to a 10% tariff (UK rate). Anything from the European Union, like RP Models, FeR Miniatures, Pegaso Models, etc. shall be subject to 15% tariff. South Korea like NutsPlanet, Life Miniatures will also be 15% tariff. These are the rates we are currently aware of BUT we have to see how these will be implemented by USPS (Royal Mail) and FedEx going forward. The generic resin/white metal model kits do not attract additional duty charges.
  • Tariffs are also applied to the shipping cost and this requires further clarification.
  • Most postal operators are SUSPENDING shipments to the USA for the coming days because most are unsure how the Executive Order is being implemented. Some are saying that unless parcels have the Delivery Duties Paid (tariffs and duties), then these will be returned to sender, or destroyed. So basically no one is taking risks for these first couple of weeks when this Order comes into effect on 29 August.
  • Unfortunately this means that besides the product cost, on our website we will now have to start including the new Tariff rate according to the product's origin. As far as we are aware, resin model kits do not attract additional duties since they are classified as toys. So for example, if a kit currently costs $60, this will now be: $60 + $9 (15% EU tariff rate) = $69 excluding shipping .
  • Once all this is calculated, we will then ship the item to you with POSTAL DELIVERY DUTIES PAID and by rights (if all works according to Royal Mail's plans and agreements), it should go through Customs and be delivered to you without any additional charges.

So in short, we will be suspending sales to the USA for the next couple of weeks until more clarification comes in regarding the implementation of this Executive Order.
