Scipio Africanus was the Roman general who defeated Hannibal at the Battle of Zama in 202 BC. After years of fighting against Carthage, Scipio led the Roman army into North Africa and won the battle that ended the Second Punic War. His victories made him one of the most famous military leaders in Roman history. The figure shows Scipio wearing historically inspired Roman armor from the time of the Second Punic War. His equipment includes a muscle cuirass, decorated greaves, an Etrusco-Corinthian helmet, and a gladius Hispaniensis.
