Scottish regiments have always played a key role in the British Army, and are perceived in quite a romantic view. From the heroic Gordon Highlanders joining the charge of the Scots Greys at Waterloo to the thin but firm red line of the Sutherland Highlanders at Balaklava, these soldiers have inspired countless generations.

The Seaforth Highlanders were created in 1881 through the Childers Reform, a major re-organisation of regiments of the British Army, unifying the Duke of Albany’s Own Highlanders and the Ross-shire Buffs.

During WWI, several battalions served on the Western Front, especially the 2nd, which participated in important battles like the Marne, the Aisne, the second Battle of Ypres, the Marne or Arras.

Our bust depicts a Sergeant from the regiment as he would have looked when they arrived in France in August of 1914.
